Our next event (on Sunday 24-Nov) is a special one. For riders in the Youth categories and above, it’s the West Midlands Regional Cyclocross Championships, and there are some important differences that those riders need to be aware of. Please note that for all of the Under-12 categories, there are no regional championships. For those riders, the event on 24-Nov is just a normal WMCCL league event.
Here’s a summary of the differences for riders covered by the Regional Championships.
- There will be no entry on the day. You must enter in advance here: Enter via RiderHQ
- To qualify for the Regional Championships, you must be a member of British Cycling and live within the West Midlands Region. You should have “West Midlands” on you BC membership card. You must present that card at Rider Registration on the day.
- If you are a member of the WMCCL but not British Cycling, you can ride the event, but you will not appear in the Championship results.
- All riders who start the event will receive their average WMCCL points – wherever they finish in their race. WMCCL members who ride a different Regional Championship (because they live outside the WM region) can also claim average points for the day, but they must do that via the League Tables Page here on the WMCCL webpage.
- The only change to the race day schedule is that the Junior Open category will be run in conjunction with the V50/V60 categories – NOT with the Senior/V40s. This is because Championship rules state that Juniors must race for around 40 minutes.
- Here are the age categories for which Championship medals will be awarded:
