WMCCL Competitions, Trophies and Awards
League Tables
This is our main individual rider competition. The top 3 Open and Female riders in each age category receive trophies at our Annual Awards event, which takes place after the end of the season. The age categories span Under-6 to Masters 70+. For the Masters (age 40+) categories and above, they are divided into 5-year sub-categories.
Riders must register (become Members) of the League in order to gain League points. Points are awarded at each race – with 100 points to the winner, 99 to second, 98 to third and so on. Final league standings are determined by your points total from your highest scores in 80% of the rounds. For example, if there are 10 rounds in the season then 8 results will count, and then: 9 results if 11 rounds; 10 results if 12 rounds; 10 results if 13 rounds; 11 results if 14 rounds, and 12 results if 15 rounds.
Cash Prizes
There are no cash prizes for individual events. However, for riders in the Under-14 category and older, we award cash prizes for the top league table placings at the end of the season. The number of placings that get a prize varies from category to category, and is determined by the number of riders in each category. The total amount of money available for prizes is determined by the total number of riders during the season.
Team Competitions
There are two team competitions, one for Under-12s and one for all other categories. For each round, the six highest scoring riders from within these age categories will count towards their team’s season total. Visit the Rules page to find out more about this.
There is also an award for the team or club that has had the most riders in the League. The Mick Ives Participation Award is presented to the club or team with most racer finishes. This is for all age categories from all events that season.
Other Awards
A Young Riders participation award is presented to all under-12 riders who ride in at least 80% of the season’s rounds.
Steve Knight Race Trophy is presented to the winner of a designated category at one race each season.
The Most Improved Rider Award in both the open and female categories is based on the points difference between their early season rides and end of season performance.
The League Committee present trophies at its Annual Awards for:
- Keith and Joan Edwards Trophy for Outstanding Young Male
- Gordon Siers Shield for Outstanding Young Female
- Steve Knight Trophy for Rider of the Year
