Shauna Hamilton of Lichfield City CC won seven times to take our Under-14 Female crown. Isabella Jones of Cycle Stars got two wins to come second, and Shauna’s teammate, Jessica Askey, was third.
Shauna has sent us this summary.
“I’ve really enjoyed this year’s Cyclocross season – although I don’t get a lot of time to train due to my other sports. I was very happy to come first under-14 girl. I really enjoy being part of the West Midlands league and I’ve been racing it since I was four years old.
Halfway through the season, I fell off and badly hurt my shoulder racing in a different league so struggled for a few races – especially on the hurdles. Abbey Stadium has always been one of my favourite venues and the mud this year made for a tougher race than normal.
I’m looking forward to the move up to under-16’s next year, and will hopefully get the chance to race some Nationals. Like many others, it would be my dream to race in Belgium one day.
A big well done to Izzy & Jess for coming 2nd & 3rd in the league and for providing me with some good competition all season. The only race I was gutted to miss was the West Midlands Champs due to the weather.”
