Another young rider with a near perfect record this year was Zosia Latuszynska of Solihull CC. She won our Under-12 Female category with 9 wins from 10 races. Evelyn Charles was the only girl to beat her (in Round 1), but it was the twins from Hafren CC: Teleri and Heledd Rowlands who got closest – finishing second and third respectively in the category.
This is another category that suggests that the WMCCL and its cycling clubs continue to produce extremely talented young riders. Zosia tells us about her own club below. But that is just one of several in the region that offer excellent youth coaching.
“This year’s season has flown by faster than I could say “race”! It was amazing to do just that once again this year with Isla, Teleri, Heledd, Annabelle, Evelyn, Annie and Ionie in another challenging season. All the races pushed me to my limits and forced me to improve.
Each race had a unique course and had different skills put to the test. Everybody tried their best and did what they could to win. My personal favourite courses were R6 at Heart of England and R2 at Shrewsbury sports village as on both of these courses I was in my element. This year I joined Solihull Cycling Club, which allowed me to participate in lots of great training. This helped me improve my skills in all areas of racing and gave me more of an upper hand, enabling me to win more comfortably.
Thank you, Solihull CC!
A huge thank you to all my fellow competitors. Every race was a real challenge, and I walked away every time with a new lesson learnt.
And last but not least, a big thank you to the WMCCL organisers and all clubs which organised individual races!”
