Genny Billington of Wolfox CAMS LeCol RT retained her Senior Female title in the WMCCL. Genny made the combined Female categories podium seven times, and finished well ahead of Laura Sheppard of the Royal Air Force CA (second) and Alice O’Neill of WLR CC – Warwick Lanterne Rouge Cycle Club (third).
Genny is also helping to build the sport that she loves by being on the management committee for the West Midlands Cyclo-Cross League (WMCCL). Here’s her report.
“The 25/26 season was my best year yet. After starting road racing over the Summer, I came into the Cross season stronger than normal.
There were so many great races organised this year but I particularly enjoyed the Heart of England course and getting to race in Steve Knights memory. My best race though was at Lilleshall – taking 2nd place – having held off Isla and finally managing to beat Eilish Gilbert after battling most of the season with her.
I’d like to thank the organisers of all the races; @customcyclecoaching (Tom Kirk) for his training plans; Stew Phipps for being my Pit man, and also my parents for coming to watch me every week.
Next year I’ll be targeting National races and maybe some racing abroad!”
