Open Under-14 Champion

We’ve already told you about his sister: Zosia. The other half of this supremely talented sibling pair is Gregory Latuszynski of Solihull Cycling Club, who is our Under-14 Open Champion for 2025/26.

In his first year of this category, Gregory won all but one of his appearances in the League and became West Midlands Regional Champion. He combined that with a full campaign in the National Trophy, in which he finished fifth and the top ‘first year’ rider.
Second and third in the U14 Open category were both from Cycle Stars: Blake Knight and Matthew Russell. Gregory tells us below about their challenge and about his remarkable season.

“As my first year in the U14 category, I really enjoyed racing the full courses at WMMCL this year. Each round brought new challenges, from technical sections that demanded precision to slippy off cambers that tested balance and control. The fast corners and changing conditions made every race exciting and helped me to improve week by week.

This year’s favourite course for me was the West Mids Championship course at Baggeridge. The technical wooded descent and the muddy conditions made it a great day out for me. The combination of carnage U12 course and fresher full course allowed for both fast and grindy sections, which made it really enjoyable to ride.

We had a lot of fierce competition this year, especially teammate Jacob who narrowly missed out on third, Mathew who’s been constantly at the top no matter the conditions, and Blake, whose consistency is terrifying. Thank you to everyone who helped make this season possible and to Solihull CC for all the training sessions ready for every condition. See you next year (hopefully for another muddy season).”
