The WMCCL is a community of people with a passion for cyclocross. That community includes some families that have been with us for many years. One of those is the Payton family. They have three generations currently riding the League – including our 2025/26 Masters 65-69 Open Champion: Kevin Payton of Stourbridge Cycling Club.
It was ‘all the Ks’ in this category. Kevin Payton finished ahead of Kevin Bodley (second) and Keith Richards of Mid Shropshire Wheelers (third). These are Kevin Payton’s words about the season.
“Before you know it another fantastic season is over. The organisation gets better every year and it was great to ride at some new venues this season. My favourite race was probably in the sunshine at Himley where we had a “Stourbridge orange corner” for support although the ups and downs at Evesham were great fun. See the photo.
My greatest pleasure this year has come from watching my six year old grandson Ted ride his first season. Along with his dad Tom in the seniors that’s three generations of Paytons competing. A special thank you to Sue for being in the pits who came to the rescue on a couple of occasions.”
Well done to all the Paytons!
