We welcome Welsh riders in the WMCCL. One of them, who makes the long journey to most events, won our Junior Open category. Iestyn Rowlands of Hafren CC won six rounds and finished on the podium in the others that he rode. He finished comfortably ahead on points of Ruben Stringfellow of Team Mi Racing Townsend Vehicle Hire (second) and Thomas Hobson of Malvern Cycle Sport (third).
It sounds like Iestyn will be back next season:
“I’ve really enjoyed racing the West Midlands cyclocross league this season. I’d like say a huge thank you to the organisers and volunteers for putting such a varied, challenging and enjoyable series of events.
One of my best races this year was at Top Barn, with the muddy conditions and tight switchbacks. My favourite course of the year was at Lilleshall with the big climbs and the weather conditions made an excellent course even better.
I’d like to thank my parents for supporting me and to Max Bufton for coaching me throughout the season. I’d also like to thank Clive Powell for his technical coaching.
See you all next year!”
We look forward to it Iestyn!
