At the end of every season, we celebrate each of our category winners. We’ll be telling you about all 31 of them here (in no particular order) over the coming weeks. Here’s the first.
Sibylla Sinton of Wolverhampton Wheelers CC is our Girls Under-8 Champion. She won nine of the twelve events. Maddison Davies of The Bulls was second with two wins, and Sibylla’s team mate Lara Stephens was third.
Sibylla has told us about her season:
“I really loved racing the WMCCL this season — it was so much fun and every race felt different. My closest competitor was Maddie, who won the league last year and pushed me every week. Racing her made me ride harder and faster.
It was really cool how many kids raced in the Under 8s this year — the races were busy and exciting and there were lots of families cheering. Well done to my club mate Lara, who got better every week and finished third overall.
Thank you to my dad for cleaning my bike every single week (even when it was really muddy) and to my mum for cheering loudly from the sidelines. Thanks to everyone at Wolverhampton Wheelers — the coaches, riders and parents — for all the encouragement and support.
Himley Hall felt like a proper big race course for the Under 8s which I loved, and Baggeridge Country Park was probably my best race — I finished first girl and second overall behind the first boy. I can’t wait to race again next season!”
