The second Lichfield City Cycling Club WMCCL category winner to be featured is Jessica Askey, who won the Under-14 Girls competition. She faced stiff competition in a very competitive category but gained seven wins – including the WM Regional Championships. Teleri Rowlands from Hafren CC was second and Francesca Gill from CYCLE STARS was third.
Here’s what Jess told us.
“I had a very enjoyable season racing in the WMCCL. I would like to say thank you to all the organisers and competitors for making it such a great experience. A big thank you to my mum and dad for all their support throughout the season. I am really looking forward to next year and hoping to try and win again.
It was also great to represent the West Mids at the Inter-Regional Championships in Bradford. We had a very young team with quite a few U14 girls and boys in the team. So for the next couple of years we should be at the sharp end hunting those podium spots.”
We hope so Jessica. The competition has been strong in the Youth and Under-12 categories in the season just ended, which bodes well for the future.
