If Darren Atkins (Team Mi Racing Townsend Vehicle Hire) doesn’t win one of our Masters 50+ races, then he finishes second! He won four and finished second in five to take the M55 Open title. He was also the West Midlands Regional Champion for 2025 in that category.
Warren Drew of Ride for Charlie was second and Mark Shepherd of Magspeed Racing was third in the WMCCL standings for Master 55-59 Open.
This is Darren’s account of the season.
“It’s hard to believe that’s another season almost complete. It’s been a enjoyable season for me with many close races and some good wins too. I’m very grateful to all the organisers who put events on as I know just what is involved.
The event at Evesham velo park was a new one for me and I thought that was a lot of fun and a great venue (even if my team mate Nick Whitley took the win from me on my Birthday !). The course that surprised me the most was the Stourbridge Event at Highley, I had ridden there a few times in dry conditions but was surprised to find it was much better in the wet.
I enjoyed my win at Redditch as it meant I could seal the deal on the league and was pushed all the way by my other team mate Nick Popham . a very big thank you to all our organisers , helpers and sponsors and hopefully see you all again in a few months. Darren Atkins.”
