Senior Open Champion

The Senior Open category in the WMCCL is always tough. Not only is the regular competition really strong, but you have to contend with the Under-23s and with the occasional top rider who visits us.

Anthony Neave of @Stourbridge Cycling Club overcame these challenges to win the category. He made the combined Senior/U23 podium five times and finished the season with a clear margin over John Mcallister (second) and Dean Callister of Aerologic RT (third).
Anthony enjoyed his season and told us this.

“As always the biggest thank you goes to all the Organisers, Commissaires and Volunteers, who make our fantastic West Mids League happen. For me, I’ve really enjoyed being back at the sharp end of racing this year compared to previous years, having some close fought races.

The stand out race for me was Top Barn, a fast but technical course. My favourite was Abbey Stadium, even though I crashed on almost every corner it was the most fun I had all season. Lastly, a big thank you to my parents, Rose and Colin. Who Sacrifice their Sundays every year to pit for me.”

Well done Anthony and thanks to Megan Brain for the photo.
