Cyclocross is a life-long passion. The youngest riders in the WMCCL are under 6 years old. Our next featured rider is at the other end of that spectrum. Clive Powell of Rhayader Riders CC won our Masters 70+ Open category.
The competition is no less serious in this age group. We had eleven riders in the category. Clive beat last year’s winner Phil Metcalfe of Wolverhampton Wheelers, and Pete Ward of Solihull CC was third.
Here’s Clive’s summary.
“I have been riding in the WMCCL for 5 years. This year I managed to fit in enough rounds to score a full set of points. I enjoy riding the league because the organisation is spot-on. Everything runs like clockwork, and all of the courses and venues are top quality. It’s great to ride with over 100 guys over the age of 50, and I have made some good friends.
Many thanks to all involved in putting on the series, and to Kevin Davies and Marc Rowlands for pitting for me. I look forward to another great cx season in 9 months time.”
Congratulations Clive. Keep riding!
