Our last post was about one of our oldest riders. Now for one of our youngest. And they have two things in common: they both ride for Wolverhampton Wheelers, and they both won their age category in the WMCCL. Esme Wilson was our Under-6 Female winner.
Esme won all but one of the eight races she rode. The next three riders in this category all won a race. Imogen Shephard was second; Ellen Dunne was third, and Fearne Holdstock was fourth.
Esme’s father has sent us the following.
“We decided to enter the league this year as Esme showed a lot of confidence and progress in her bike control; She also really wanted to see how she would do against others her age.
Once she finished her race at the Heart of England Centre in the torrential rain and mud with a smile from ear to ear and a mouth full of Haribo. We were all hooked and had to see how far Esme could really go!
When asked, Esme said “My favourite track was the one with the swirly whirly because it made me feel dizzy”. That was Round 8 at Lilleshall.
She also said that she enjoys jumping on and off the bike because she loves to “run fast!”.”
