Vikki Sivertsen of Malvern Cycle Sport picked-up the V55-59 category win for a second year. Two Stourbridge CC riders – Joanne Acha (second) and Isla Rowntree (third) – were in close contention, but Vikki was able to maximise her points tally with nine consistently good finishes in the Women’s race.
Here are her own reflections on the season.
“I’ve loved the cross season again this year, there is a great rapport between all the women. Isla Rowntree moved into my age group this year and I’m fully aware that had she competed in enough races I would be picking up second place instead!
Unfortunately, I crashed my road bike early in the season and missed Baggeridge and Shrewsbury whilst I was still recovering.
There were some great courses this year, my favourite being Lilleshall. I love the ups and downs there and there was a good level of mud.
Along with my partner, we finished the season off nicely by taking a trip over to Belgium to watch the pros in Round 4 of the cyclocross World Cup in Namur. It was absolutely brilliant, and I definitely recommend it.”
Maybe you should take a trip over to ride the World Masters next year Vikki!
