Our Under-8 Female winner is Maddison Davies of The Bulls CC. She is one of the many riders from Wales who we welcome into the League. And, from this great start, it looks like Wales has another potential cyclocross star in the making.
Maddie won seven rounds in WMCCL 2024. She was only beaten twice – by Sibylla Sinton, who finished second in the category. Hermione Tranter was third.
Here’s what Maddie’s mother has told us.
“So, this season we were only going to enter Maddie in a couple of races as we thought the big grids would daunt her. We entered the first round to see how she would go and she stormed home for her first win, having only moved up to the Under-8’s category this season.
From then on Maddie was happy to race every weekend. The strongest race being at Shrewsbury in the sloppy and slippy mud with some steep banks to cycle up. Maddie amazes us with the strength in her legs and fearlessness on the slippy downhills. After a few rounds on her mountain bike and a few wins under her belt, we decided to help Maddie out with a more suitable bike and bought a HUP bike.
Maddie’s said her favourite tracks were at Redditch where she used her hup bike for the first time and loved the fast downhill section and also the last round in the mud at Sandwell Park.”
Nice bike Maddie!
