It’s time to celebrate our category winners for 2024. In no particular order, we will feature each of them over the holiday period – starting with our Junior Female winner: Amy Barnes of Lichfield City CC.
Amy had a season-long battle with Jess Bufton of Hafren CC, but came out on top winning 6 of the 8 head-to-heads that they fought out. Zoe Parker was third in this category – with the most Junior category wins. However, she missed some rounds to race in National Trophy events. So, congratulations to Amy for an outstanding first full season of cyclocross. Here’s what she has told us:
“I have really enjoyed my first full season in the WMCCL which is also my as a first year a junior. It has been great to compete in such a big field of women rather than in a mixed youth field. I have enjoyed rivalry with similar ability racers beating them some weeks but not others, across different terrain and conditions. My favourite course were the two events held at The Heart of England which offered a great variety of course features. It’s fantastic to be a part of a great community of riders where everyone has such a wonderful attitude towards one another. Many thanks to all the race organisers.”
Well done Amy!
