The second of the winners from Solihull CC who we will talk about today is Gregory Latuszynski, who stormed the Under-12 Male category. Gregory has impressed many with his speed and riding skills. He is definitely one to watch!
This was another very competitive category. Second-placed Blake Knight and third-placed Joshua Arthur finished level on points and could only be separated by consulting the WMCCL rules. Blake edged it thanks to beating Joshua in the final round. That takes precedence over average points.
Let’s hear about the season from Gregory.
“I had an amazing time racing in the West Midlands Cyclocross League this season! The competition was fierce and battling it out with some incredibly talented riders including Blake, Ted, Danny, Josh and others proved to be a real pleasure and challenge this year. Everyone brought their A-game and drove each competitor to their limits and literally forced them to improve. Whether it was pushing each other in the tight corners or appreciating the numerous skills the other riders had, the sportsmanship was second to none.
However, this year I had the advantage of the spectacular training offered by my club, Solihull Cycling Club, which let me not lose the race at the start line, as I sometimes did last year, but even win it, and do the pace making to push me and everybody else beyond our limits. I also must mention how much I enjoyed two specific races – Race 6 and Race 11 at Heart of England and Sandwell Valley respectively. These courses were fantastic, and they played to my strengths. Both were great muddy and technical courses with lots of pedalling and tricky off-cambers. These were, in my eyes, masterpieces of courses and really made me think outside the box to win them both.
Big shout-out to my fellow competitors—everyone made each race a true battle, and I left each event feeling like I had learned something new. I can’t wait to race with you all again next season!”
