Scarlett Ford of Stratford CC is our Under-16 Female Champion for 2024. This was a really competitive category, with only eight points separating the top three riders. Scarlett won it with three wins – including the Regional Championship – and by always making the podium.
Mia Lewis was second and Jaime Downing third. They also had race wins – that’s how close it was. And the top three also had to contend with Rose Lewis, who won five races but didn’t do enough League races to maximise her points total. This talent in this age group bodes well for the future of women’s cyclocross.
Here’s what Scarlett has had to say about her season.
“It was another amazing year racing in the WMCCL. Managing the podium every race. My favourite course was Worcester, where Round 7 and the Regional Championships where held. Over the session, I had some great battles with Mia and Jamie.
This year, I have raced three National Trophy races – including the Inter-Regionals – where I represented the West Midlands. I was really happy to come in the top 10 at the Torbay National Trophy, win the Regional Championships and the League for the second year running.
I would like to thank my coaches at Stratford CC and everybody who helped me in the pits this season. I am really excited to race in a bigger field next year as I am moving up a category.”
Congratulations on a great season Scarlett!
